Email Object

Postby blackice » Sat Nov 04, 2006 3:24 pm

Folks,

Another great addition to the core DataSlave objects would be an email object. You could use standard SMTP (typical corporate usage), or I guess others if you like.

In the bigger corporate world, it's very common to have processes email results to a mailing list. So, tech support may see the results of various processes, batch jobs, etc. as they transpire throughout the day and night.

By replacing and automating many of these processes and tasks with DataSlave, it would be great to add a core SMTP email object that you could provide the SMTP address, to, from, cc, body and subject to, and then as an output connection from an Export, or perhaps as a result of validation, or both, then an email status could be sent.

This becomes even more important as the entire organization begins to use DataSlave maps to automate entire functions and units, so everything runs automatically as scheduled.

Kind Regards,

DataSlave Loader

Postby ian » Sun Nov 05, 2006 9:34 am

DataSlave Loader will include in the next release support for emailing the results of an execution of a map.

If you require this as a matter of urgency we can supply version 1.21 of DataSlave and the Loader. This version was not placed on general release, but includes this new feature.

DataSlave Loader is available for a small charge, $59.00. It can be purchased on-line from the Baycastle web site.

Ian,

Thanks for the reply. It's great that the loader will support this, but for those that don't use the loader, will there be an object from within the SDK or DataSlave that everyone could use? I was thinking of just creating a quick validation object that does that and testing it out, then just let others use it, but perhaps you folks already have it done.

Kind Regards,
