Script Function with Multiple inputs

Postby flxkid » Wed Nov 23, 2005 6:57 pm

I need to validate based on the concatenation of two inputs having a length smaller than a certain value (to make sure they will fit into a destination field without getting lobbed off at the end). I don't see a way to do this right now.

A good idea

Your suggestion is a good one. In fact I think there are two things we will add in the next release:
Provide more than one input to a validate script function
Provide a validate on length function
I have a sample map that I am happy to send you that shows with the current release how to validate on the length of one or more fields. This does not require VB Script, but does require two steps.
The first is to use a Transform Object create a new column and put the field length into this column
The second is to validate on this value
If you want the sample please email info@baycastle.co.uk.
