Net-Cabinet service will not start

Abbie reported that when she runs Net-Cabinet she gets an error message indicating that the server cannot be contacted.

If you see this, the first thing to do is to check that the server is running.

  • Go to the machine running the Net-Cabinet server
  • Open the control panel applet that displays services.
  • Check to see if the Net-Cabinet service is running.
  • You can also check the Event log.
The service may start and immediately stop adding an error to the Event Log. This will include the following description.

Server exception: The requested address is not valid in its context

This problem is rare, but if you see this please reboot the server and check net-cabinet operation afterwards. We are investigating this problem and will add to this post when we have a better understanding.

This problem is now fixed in release 1.2
