Returning a document to Net-Cabinet

How do you for example put a document in Net-Cabinet onto a USB stick, modify it and then return the edited copy into Net-Cabinet?

  • To copy a document onto the USB stick, just drag it out of the Net-Cabinet grid unto the stick. A copy will be made.
  • Edit the document for example when away from the office as normal.
  • On your return first ensure that Net-Cabinet is running. Then drag the document into the Net-Cabinet folder in My Documents. You will be asked if you want to replace the file with a new version. Respond yes. The newer, edited version will be copied into the Net-Cabinet repository

Please note that Net-Cabinet offers remote access so you may want to explore this as an easier way of working on documents when out of the office. Have a look at the User Guide for more details, but all you need to do is open Port 4409 in your firewall and then a Net-Cabinet on for example your notebook will be able to access Net-Cabinet from anywhere on the Internet.
